Safina Month 8

March 27, 2009 - WE HAVE A CRAWLER! Safina took her first crawl tonight. She is still working on it and she can't go too far, but she can do it! We are so proud of her!

March 26, 2009 - We are introducing a few solid foods! She loves having bits of bread and pasta! She also loves puffs and cheerios! She is becoming such a big girl!

March 24, 2009 - booo! It is time to leave Florida. We checked out and hung by the pool for the morning and then headed to the airport around 2:30. Our flight left at 5pm, and we didn't get home till 10:30pm, and Safina did GREAT! I was so worried it would be tough on her, but she did awesome!

March 23, 2009 - A gloomy day in Florida, but not too miserable. We went to Gatorland and walked around while watching all the gators! Very cool animals/creatures! Safina got a little plush alligator as a momento, we named it Chester after the enormous alligator at the park.

March 22, 2009 - Mark, Emma, and Claire (poor Tonya was sick) met up with us today! We hung out at the pool and visited! The girls helped Safina chow down poolside! We had a blast and enjoyed seeing them all!

March 21, 2009 - We are off to Florida today! We are going down to Orlando for a few days to warm up in the sunshine and so Safina can meet her paternal grandfather! She did great on the plane! She makes friends with everyone!

March 15, 2009 - Safina is getting so big! She is trying to move around more... any week now she will be crawling, or walking or something! She isn't quite sturdy yet, but she is trying very hard... she doesn't like sitting still for long! I also think she is getting more teeth, she has been a little more fussy then normal lately!

March 11, 2009 - Safina had her second photo shoot today! She did so great and gave us great big smiles the whole time! It is going to be hard to pick which pictures to choose.

March 10, 2009 - We went to visit little Olivia today! She is only 3 weeks old. She is very sweet! Safina kept trying to pet her. I think she thought she was a kitty!

March 8, 2009 - Safina and Mommy stopped by Uncle Sam and Uncle Laurel's house today. Safina and Molly got to play! They were both very interested in each other! Safina loved it when Molly licked her fingers!

March 7, 2009 - Safina and Mommy went to the Niagara Falls Aquarium with Uncle Andrew and Aunt Janet today! We had lots of fun looking at all the sea creatures! Then we went shopping at the outlets! Don't worry daddy, we didn't spend too much.

March 5, 2009 - Daddy left us for the weekend. He was going on a Guy's trip! So Safina and I hung out all weekend and caught up with friends and family! But we were very happy to see daddy on sunday!

March 3, 2009 - Happy Belated (by one day) Birthday Dr. Seuss! Today we went to a playgroup that celebrated Dr. Seuss's Birthday. We each brought a Dr. Seuss book, and we did an exchange! There was even a green cake with red and blue fish on it! We had lots of fun playing with new kids!

February 2009

Feb 28, 2009 - Today we ventured out to Rochester to visit Mike, Jen and Ryan! We can't get over how big Ryan is getting and what a sweet little boy he is! We had lots of fun hanging out with them, and catching up! The kids liked playing together as well!

Feb 20, 2009 - Safina did a toy test at Fisher Price today! We were testing out a feature on a jumperoo. She unfortunately wasn't very helpful, she had just woken from a nap, and was rather confused by what was going on. But it was fun, and she got a free toy out of it!

Feb 16, 2009 - She did it again! Slept through the night. 6:30pm to 7:30am! I love this! I hope she keeps it up!

Feb 15, 2009 - Safina slept through the night from 7pm to 5:30 am! I hope she keeps this up!

Feb 14, 2009 - Happy Valentine's Day, we are all sick this weekend.. boo! Hopefully we will get better fast!

Feb 8, 2009 - Safina has discovered how to move and rotate her wrist! She is totally fascinated by it, it is so adorable! She will hold something (sometimes nothing) and just flip her wrist! She does it more with her left hand then right, she may be a lefty!

Feb 6, 2009 - Second tooth is in! She loves her teeth and likes to use them when she eats by gripping the spoon. It is pretty funny!

January 2009

Jan 25, 2009 - So we did it! We took Safina to get her ears pierced! I totally thought I would chicken out, but I didn't! She did really well too! She cried for 30 seconds after they did it, but then she was fine! Such a brave girl! She looks so cute!

Jan 22, 2009 - Safina got her first tooth today! No wonder she was miserable last night! It is the bottom left (of the front two). She loves grabbing things with it and playing with it with her fingers! We also had swim class today and she totally enjoys it now! I think she is starting to get used to it, and is enjoying kicking and "jumping" in!

Jan 18, 2009 - Safina is sitting on her own! She still doesn't roll over, but she can sit up by herself! She loves being able to play with her toys better!

Jan. 15, 2009 - We started swim lessons today! She wasn't so sure of the big tub, but she was definitely checking it out!

Jan. 11, 2009 - She is growing so fast! It is amazing how alert and curious she is. She watches everything and is learning how things work. She loves grabbing for things and everything goes right to the mouth! She sat up on her own today! So we are going to keep practicing that! She still hasn't rolled over, but she will eventually. We have a doctors appointment on Monday, so we are curious to see how big she has gotten.

Jan. 8, 2009 - We tried sweet peas today, man she is not that into those. She will eat them, but she makes the funniest face when she does.

December 2008

Dec. 28, 2008 - She still hasn't rolled over...

Dec. 25, 2008 - Merry Christmas! Baby's First Christmas! So much fun. She loved all the paper and even unwrapped some of her gifts. She is a very spoiled little girl! We enjoyed watching her experience her first christmas.

Dec. 24, 2008 - Christmas Eve at Tony's aunt's house. We had a wonderful dinner and great company! Safina opened her first christmas present! So much fun for all!

Dec. 22, 2008 - OK, so she did roll over, but hasn't done it since. So we will keep trying!

Dec. 20, 2008 - Yes! She finally did it! She rolled over on her own! She was on her stomach and rolled to her back, on her own!!! We are so excited. We also saw Santa today! She really didn't care about him, but really enjoyed the jingle bells he had!

Dec. 12, 2008 - Safina has finally found her feet. The past few days she is grabbing them and kicking. This makes diaper changes particularly challenging. But she is so adorable when she does it. We are still encouraging her to roll over, but there is no sign of that happening anytime soon.

November 2008

Nov. 29, 2008 - Thanksgiving with Tony's family was today. Again another super yummy meal. LOTS to eat and good company! It was a nice visit and Grandma LaDota did a wonderful job!

Nov. 28, 2008 - We went on our annual christmas tree hunt today! "Uncle" Sam and "Aunt" Laurel joined us (it is our new tradition that we started last year). We went to the same tree farm that I grew up going to with my family. It is so fun to continue the tradition with Safina. We were so excited to pick out her first christmas tree! It was also great b/c they had over a foot of snow, so it made it so much fun! Along with the yummy apple bread and hot chocolate that Sam and Laurel brought it was an awesome day!

Nov. 27, 2008 - Happy Thanksgiving! Safina's First Thanksgiving! We hosted this year, and everything turned out wonderful! Thanks to yummy additions from my mom, brothers and their girlfriends everything was super yummy!

Nov. 20, 2008 - We have been tasting lots of things. She has tried sweet potatoes, peas, rice and oatmeal cereal. So far she is pretty open to all the foods, she just isn't a fan of the rice cereal.

Nov 16, 2008 - Today she met Rhiannon (from mommy's high school) and hung out with Amanda and Ava! We had a great visit and hope we can get together again soon!

Nov 14, 2008 - I am so excited, she is spontaneously laughing now! It is so cool. She will just start laughing out of nowhere! Man do I love this little girl! On a side note, I started my own business and I had a meeting to go to tonight and little miss Safina was to stay with daddy, but she cried basically the whole time so mommy had to come home early. We need to work on the "mommy's girl" thing!

Nov 13, 2008 - So we have been trying the cereal twice a day, but she doesn't seem to know what to do with it.... I don't think she is ready, so we are going to hold off a little longer.

Nov 11, 2008 - We are going to try cereal tonight... I can't wait!

Nov 10, 2008 - Doctor checkup this morning. My little girl is now 13lbs 2oz and 24 inches long. She is doing great and the doctor said she can start having a bit of cereal in the morning and at night. I can't believe she is going to start solids. I will have to go shopping tomorrow for cereal. After the doctors appointment we went out to East Aurora where Safina had a photo shoot for Fisher Price. She did great, and it was fun! Very fast, we were in and out in 15 minutes. She will be on a box for a bouncy chair that is orange/yellow in 4-6 months! She is wearing a white shirt and yellow pants! So exciting!

Nov 9, 2008 - Today was Jack's birthday party! It was a monkey themed shin-dig! So much fun! It was so great to watch him destroy his cake and open his presents! Such a big boy! So sweet! Happy Day! On a side note, Safina is officially 4 months old today!!! My baby is growing up!

Nov 8, 2008 - We drove down to Washington, PA to celebrate little Jack Man's first birthday! Safina was great! She slept most of the way and played with her toy the rest of the way! We had a nice visit during the afternoon, then we went to the new outlets that opened, but just for a quick bit. Then back to the hotel where we all passed out by 9pm.... so tired.

Nov 4, 2008 - Today Safina and I voted! She had trouble pulling the lever but she finally got it.

Nov 1, 2008 - Well it happened... I am now 29 years old. One more year till the big 3 0. YIKES!!! I had a great birthday. Mom (Grandma Clare) had a lunch birthday celebration for me (Andrew and Janet, Kyle and Sarah were also able to join us). She made a wonderful lunch and we all visited and hung out all afternoon. Then Tony, Safina and I went out to dinner at The Original Pancake House (I know, strange, but they have the BEST peacan pancakes!!). It was a very nice birthday and also was a remembrance of us finding out that we were expecting our little Safina!

October 2008

Oct 31, 2008 - Happy Halloween!!! Today we hung out with "Aunt" Joella and had lots of fun! We also went to see "Uncle" Gallo today too (since he was at home, we wanted to check in on him ;)) Then we came home and made dinner b/c Grandma Clare was coming over for dinner and then babysit while we went to a halloween party at "Uncle" Brians.

Oct 29, 2008 - Gallo had surgery yesterday, so we went to the hospital to visit him today. Unfortunately they wouldn't let babies on the floor, so Mommy and Daddy had to take turns visiting and watching Safina. We are glad to see that he is doing so well and that he is feeling better!

Oct 28, 2008 - Safina is getting so good at grabbing things with her hands. She is so much more observant to what is going on around her. She really is the sweetest baby! She is usually so happy and good natured, always giving lots of smiles, and if your lucky you get a laugh. She totally has me wrapped around her finger, she is the sweetest thing! Gosh darn it, I love her so much!

Oct 27, 2008 - We had another Mommy and Me activity today. We went to a nursing home and had a halloween parade. So Safina got dressed up in her halloween costume (she was a ballerina!) and we paraded around the nursing home talking to all the folks! It was so nice and you could tell they really appreciated it!

Oct 26, 2008 - Our Annual Pumpkin Carving Party was held today. Everyone had a great time and it was so fun to visit and hang out with everyone. Not too many people carved pumpkins, but we all had fun!

Oct 23, 2008 - Safina and I joined a mommy and me play group and there are all kinds of activities going on and you just pick which ones you would like to attend. Today was our first activity, and we met at a Barnes and Noble for Storytime. It was nice to meet the other kids and their moms, even though Safina was by far the youngest, so she was mostly observing. It was nice to get out and interact with other moms and their kids.

Oct 23, 2008 - Today we met Great Aunt Annette and the kids at the zoo. We wanted to check out the new Amazon exhibit! Very cool, we had lots of fun and the day was just beautiful!

Oct 22, 2008 - We went to visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Root today. It was so nice to see them, even though you were a little fussy. After that we met up with Grandma Clare for lunch, then off to Great Uncle Ron and Aunt Judy. We had a very busy day visiting people but it was so nice to catch up with them!

Oct 18, 2008 - Daddy's business opened today! Daddy had 6 patients. Everything went pretty smoothly and he is totally excited! Now just have to work on building up the client base and figure out all the paperwork/billing.

Oct 17, 2008 - We have gotten at least one laugh from Safina every day this week! I just love the laughs!!! Mommy got a much needed massage today. Daddy was on baby duty for the first time alone! Unfortunately Miss Safina was not very cooperative. She cried the whole time. Poor daddy!

Oct 12, 2008 - Today was Safina's first pumpkin picking! Of course she slept through the whole thing! We went with "Uncle" Sam and "Aunt" Laurel! After some errand running, we went back to our house for dinner and a dip in the hot tub. Today was also Safina's first laugh! It was so amazing. She is freaking adorable! I love her more and more every day! (which I didn't think was possible to love her anymore.)

Oct 11, 2008 - Such a beautiful day we went to Beaver Island State Park (Also where we had our wedding pictures done) and walked around a bit and took some pictures. Then we were off to a Birthday party for Elyssa and Zachary, so we went over to Great Aunt Annette's house for a party! We enjoyed spending time with everyone!

Oct 6, 2008 - Today was Safina's first professional photo shoot. It was very interesting to see how that works with a little baby. The guy was a little odd. I went back a week later to look at the proofs, and I wasn't really excited about any of the shots. They were cute, but he didn't capture anything I can't get at home... so more photoshoots at home! (This also convinced Tony to buy us an awesome camera which we did today, I am still learning how to use it, but it is so nice!)

Oct 4/5, 2008 - We ventured to Rochester to visit St. John Fisher College for Alumni weekend. We stayed with "Uncle" Mike and "Aunt" Jen and little Ryan. We didn't get to see too many people b/c after we got there we realized we forgot to call everyone and tell them we were going... OOPPS!!! Sunday we went to an Apple Festival with craft fair. We ran into Krista and Jeff and Krista's mom, also saw Sabrina and a couple of her friends! So nice to see friends we haven't seen in a while.

September 2008

Sept 25, 2008 - Safina's first JOB!! Safina started her first job today. She is a toy tester for Fisher Price! We just picked up her "assignment" and she is working on it right now. I will post pictures of her hard at work! (not only is it cool to see the new items before they come out, but we even get paid for this!!!)

Sept 22, 2008 - Check out the Nursery Page, I put updated pictures up there. It still isn't done, I am looking for artwork! But the bedskirt and bedding are basically done!

Sept 21, 2008 - Today Safina was baptised! Everything went beautifully and she was the best baby at the church (of course I am biased). She looked adorable in her dress! Check the pictures out!

Sept 18, 2008 - Well we survived the two month shots! All are doing well, and little lady's behavior has not changed due to them!

Sept 12, 2008 - Today was Safina's two month check up at the doctors. She is doing beautifully and is following the growth chart perfectly! The doctor even commented that "she is one of those babies that makes you want to have a baby!" Her new stats are: 11 pounds and 22 inches long. She also got her first set of shots today. Mom was holding up well... until they actually gave her the shots. The expression on her face and the sound of her cry/screams will never be forgotten. At that moment mommy also cried! I just wanted to protect my little baby. I know she wasn't really in that much pain, but just seeing that face and hearing that cry, ugh... words do not describe. I have been giving her extra hugs and kisses to try and make up for it!

Sept 7, 2008 - What a busy couple weeks! Safina is the light of our lives! She is observing so much more, and she is just becoming so sweet and interactive! Everytime she smiles at me she melts my heart even more! We have the big 2 month doctors appointment on Friday and mommy is so nervous. I hope she does well with all the shots, and doesn't have any side effects from them. She is now not fitting into newborn clothes anymore. We are on to 0-3 month now! She is such a little peanut!
